Keep Your WPO365 Plugins up-to-date

AI is changing how quickly software vulnerabilities are discovered. That makes it more important than ever that you keep your WPO365 Plugins up-to-date.

Keep Your WPO365 Plugins up-to-date

The use of AI in software development has accelerated enormously. But the same technology that helps developers write and review code can also be used to analyse software systematically for potential vulnerabilities.

What this means for WPO365

I am seeing the effects of this development myself.

With the security-focused WPO365 version 45.0, released at the beginning of October, I substantially increased security review efforts. Since then, 30 items in the WPO365 changelog have been tagged “Security“.

For comparison, between January 2025 and the release of version 45.0, only 4 changelog items carried that same label.

This does not necessarily mean that software has suddenly become less secure. Rather, vulnerabilities and potential weaknesses that may previously have gone unnoticed are increasingly being identified through more systematic and increasingly AI-assisted analysis.

And finding a vulnerability is only half the story. The fix only protects your website once you install the update.

My recommendation

If you use WPO365, I strongly recommend keeping your plugins on the latest available version, especially following the security-focused changes introduced with version 45.0 and the subsequent minor releases.

The same principle applies to WordPress itself and to other plugins and themes installed on your website: regular updates are now an increasingly important part of maintaining a secure WordPress environment.

AI is making vulnerability discovery faster. My response as software vendor is to find and fix potential issues faster too.

As a website administrator, the most important thing you can do is make sure those fixes reach your website.

Security researchers have demonstrated AI-driven systems capable of analyzing WordPress plugins at scale and discovering previously unknown vulnerabilities. One recent research project reported finding more than 300 critical zero-day vulnerabilities in just 72 hours, showing how dramatically AI can reduce the time and cost involved in vulnerability research. Researchers have also demonstrated how AI can help construct complex exploit chains against vulnerabilities in WordPress itself.
